All of them offer you similar features and are available at an identical price. Amidst all this, Realme has launched two phones in Nepal, The Realme 2 Pro and therefore the Realme C1.

So, today, we’ll be talking about the Realme 2 Pro. it’s been my daily driver for the last three months and here is my full and detailed review about it.

The Realme 2 Pro came after the age of gradient designs and that i must say, this easy touch of a plane colorful back still catches my eye. I chose this Blue variant, which is kind of a light-weight icy Blue, which I still think is extremely appealing.

But as eye-catching because it is, most of the days , I used it with the Silicon case that came along within the box because the whole phone is formed of plastic. As careless as i’m , I didn’t want to destroy my daily driver. And after this long usage, my phone still looks good as new. There are minor scratches at the rear but the shiny back has compensated to cover it alright .

At the front too, I got a built-in screen guard that took up many scratches but it began to wear off a touch bit near the notch, so I took it off altogether. And impressive is that the Gorilla Glass 3 protection has delayed pretty well-preventing scratches on the display.

But i feel this phone may be a little too thick for my liking and other users of this device also may have felt an equivalent .

It’s weird that the battery isn’t too huge and still the phone is thick and comparatively heavy. Plus, with the duvet on, it’s thicker than ever. But doesn’t matter in usage though, so it’s okay.

Keeping the Realme 2 pro as a daily driver, I even have also reviewed quite few devices and searching in the least of them, i feel the V-shaped notch and therefore the minimal bottom bezel accounts for an honest full view screen on this one.

But through all this point , I even have wished for more brightness, which is simply moderately bright outside. Nothing that has affected my usability but I even have wished for more sometimes.

Other than that, I even have quite liked other aspects like the colours are bright and vibrant and playing games or watching videos or just browsing has been an honest experience.

The notch on the highest isn’t very obtrusive so I kept in on all the days . you are doing have an choice to hide it for a few apps but it had been okay on behalf of me .

But through all this point , I even have missed the LED notification light. you’ll activate notifications on the lock screen and even clear it from there which has somehow made it easier on behalf of me but again a notification LED is usually welcome.

Now we’ve come to the part where the Realme 2 pro has shone with all its potential, the cameras. Honestly, i assumed that the cameras are going to be okay, nothing much to fuss about, but this one has exceeded my expectation, except in one aspect, which i will be able to mention later.

So, beginning with the rear cameras, the photographs are very colorful and appearance pleasing to the attention . the small print are on point, the saturation is on point and that i have loved the pictures . check out this picture of the Bouddha Stupa here, what does one believe it? Nice isn’t it?

The fact is that this one uses an equivalent Sony IMX sensor at the rear previously used on the costlier OnePlus 5T and therefore the results are awesome. i buy an equivalent impressive images whenever i’m going around shooting with this phone.

But something that has bugged me tons since day one is, you can’t change the settings from the camera app itself! and eventually , once I dug deeper, the settings might be changed from inside the settings menu. I mean you’ve got to individually go there, search and alter whatever settings you would like to change . nearly as good because the cameras are, this has been an enormous hassle on behalf of me .

But within the camera app, the icons tell you clearly, which is what function, so it’s not an issue finding the portrait mode or HDR mode, etc.

Talking about the HDR mode, it helps improve detail from bright and dark areas on images alright . But, once you take an image with an exposed background, it does help preserve details but the photographs begin slightly unnatural. Not saying the pictures aren’t good though!

Okay, there’s a beauty mode, which I didn’t use fairly often , but here are some samples for you to see out.

Similarly, videos are very impressive. there’s EIS to form your videos stable, you won’t notice the stabilization while shooting videos but the result is sweet i need to say. Among the 4k, 1080p and 720p options, I liked the FHD resolution more in terms of quality.

Autofocus in both videos and photos is sweet , nothing to complain about.

Okay, now let’s mention the aspect I even have disliked, the portrait mode. i’d sound very harsh once I say this, but the two MP depth sensor isn’t soo good in functioning. the sting detection is poor, blur intensity is poor and inconsistent! But, you are doing have studio various studio lighting effects, among which i prefer the RIM lighting effect.

The night shots are what you’d expect. they’re nothing to be excited about, yet not that bad either. But certainly, the cameras find it a touch hard to focus during the night.

Pictures in artificial lighting are good though! they’re detailed and bright and basically, I even have loved clicking pictures with this one!

Selfies are nice too! they’re colorful, natural and detailed. The HDR option helps when the background is exposed. Also, there’s stickers option which has been very fun on behalf of me also as my friends. the sweetness option again, I didn’t use it an excessive amount of .

The portrait option the selfie cameras does an okay job. But there are not any studio lighting effects in selfie portraits, which i might have loved to have! Never mind, Realme, you’ll put it there within the upcoming device of yours!

Talking about the performance, it’s the Snapdragon 660 SoC which we’ve seen in many phones lately, but i used to be a touch skeptical about the colour OS affecting the complete potential of the chipset but it’s actually not been that way.

I have had no complaints about the performance of this device whatsoever! I even have not felt lags and stutters on this device while multitasking or gaming and therefore the like. Coming to gaming, the Adreno 512 GPU is sort of a performer. I play PUBG fairly often in medium settings with none major stutters. Also, Asphalt runs pretty smooth but F1 racing goes through some stutters sometimes. to not the extent of frustration though!

But, the speakers at rock bottom get distorted at highest volumes and has spoiled my gaming experiences tons . But with earphones, it’s not that bad. Also, the speakers tend to hide up with fingers, which again adds up to not so good gaming experience. So, albeit games run pretty much , I’ve had issues.

I have been using the 4 GB RAM 64 GB storage variant that has EMMC storage, which can be the rationale why games or apps take a short time to put in .

The fingerprint sensor at the rear has been working fine, it’s fast and gets the work done 100% of the days . And facial unlock is swift too during the daytime. Since it’s the front camera doing the work here, it doesn’t perform well during already dark .

Also, like other Chinese phones, this one doesn’t certify DRM L1 certification, but since I don’t use Netflix or Amazon prime contents on my phone, it wasn’t a dealbreaker!

Now the software, and you recognize i’m not an enormous fan of the colour OS, especially because the app icons aren’t excellent looking and surprisingly there’s no theme center to vary one either! So, unless, you download another launcher, you’re cursed with it.

Things can change and therefore the CEO of Realme has also promised the Pie update within the next few months so maybe the newest Color OS supported Pie will have something refreshing. And another thing, since my use, I even have gotten a few of updates, the newest security patch dated January 5.

And some two months ago, I got the update that made the notifications clear up from one direction! Previously, it had been so annoying that you simply had to swipe once and click on delete but to some extent, it’s been corrected. I tell some extent, because, it can only be cleared from one direction, the story is that the same if you are trying from the opposite side!

In the Realme 2 pro, you get a modest 3,500 mAh battery, which will last you for each day . it’s been an equivalent since day one up so far , I mean, the battery life has not degraded.

The area where Realme could have done better here was by including its very own VOOC Fast charging tech. It doesn’t cost an excessive amount of to borrow its own tech, right? But, they haven’t, so charging will take around 2.5-3 hours to urge fully juiced up. And yes, it uses Micro USB port.

Realme 2 Pro Pros and Cons

  • Awesome front & back cameras
  • Good display
  • Good performance

  • Sub-par portrait images
  • No fast charging
  • Plastic Build

So, as I said earlier, I even have used this device for therefore long and albeit I don’t just like the UI such a lot , I even have gotten wont to it. on the other hand again, i might wish to suggest the corporate to focus more on the UI part. Also, though the phone looks good, I don’t think plastic backs are here to remain . For while use me also as people would really like to possess better material on their phones.

SD 660, little question may be a good processor, but as an intense user, maybe for subsequent one, Realme should accompany a more powerful processor just like the SD 675 or the SD 710! i might also wish to see Realme adding the USB type C port, maybe a much bigger battery, and VOOC charging. Also, the portrait mode needs attention, I mean for such an honest camera, why compromise on any aspect?

So, my verdict would be, yes, the device has some shortcomings, but in my opinion, they’re not that big of a deal. I even have loved using this phone and can continue using it as my daily driver for subsequent few months.

So, if you’re thinking of getting this one, for the worth it asks, especially the discounts you get immediately , this device remains a really good choice!
