POCO X2 Long Term Review: Amazing Mid-Range Smartphone

POCO X2 Long Term Review: POCO X2 has been out for over a month now and I thought I’d use it for a while and share the whole experience with you. First, though, I’m a little confused as to who the successor of Poco X2 really is. This is not a Poco F1 successor for obvious reasons and does not look like a Redmi K20 successor as a whole. If you ask me, I think this is a random POCO smartphone. However, putting it aside, the phone is excited about it. Therefore, let us explain this in detail in our review of POCO X2.

Display

First, there is something special about the 120 Hz display POCO X2. Because so far, this is the only phone of this price with a 120Hz refresh rate. Yes, I know, it would have been better with the IPS panel and the AMOLED screen, but it’s hard not to like how comfortable the display is and how I feel after reviewing the POCO X2.

Scrolling and swiping on the screen makes the butter feel soft and I like how it works well with POCO MIUI. While there aren’t many games that support high refresh rate displays, it also feels elegant. However, this tenderness comes at the cost of a battery drain, so most of the time, I’ve increased it to a normal 60 Hertz. – POCO X2 Long Term Review

Dual Punch-Hole Cutout!

Coming back to the display, it has a dual camera with a dual camera. Frankly, it’s not very good. In fact, I think the front-end doesn’t need a depth-sensing camera. I think they should go with a wide-angle lens just like their competition, which is the new RealMe 6 Pro.

Despite all this, I like the quality of the show here. It is vibrant, colorful and very shiny. And for content-ts enthusiasts, this wideline L1 is also certified. It has support for HDR10, which only works strangely on YouTube. – POCO X2 Long Term Review

The only minor problem with this show is screen bleeding. Yes, as with POCO F1, POCO X2 suffers from a similar problem.

Camera

Now, let’s move on to the second most hypnotic thing about POCO X2, which is definitely cameras, and I’m really keen to review it. This phone uses the latest iteration of Sony Sensor – IMX 686. In addition, the “64MP AI quad-camera” phone mentioned by POCO X2 company.

POCO X2 Rear Camera

In addition to the basic 64 MP Sony sensor, there is an 8 MP wide angle sensor, 2 MP depth sensor and 2 MP macro lens. – POCO X2 Long Term Review

But before proceeding on everything, I want to make a special mention of the macro lens, I think you need to take good pictures with it. During my time with the phone, I completely ignored its existence.

The 2MP depth sensor does not work well. The depth and focus of the subject matter in the background is not going well in most cases. In comparison, Realme X2 works just fine.

Portraits

Portraits also have this serious HDR problem. Look at these images, where the HDR is not working properly because the background looks dull and more.

Therefore, I hope POCO provides an update to address this issue. And for the record, I recently received the January Security Patch over the phone, which I think is a bit late from the company because the POCO F1 also received the February Security Patch. – POCO X2 Long Term Review

Now, as smartphone brands are turning to their cameras as quad cameras, I know how they brainwash non-tech audiences. What I want to say is that macro lenses and depth sensors can boast of just about anyone, because they don’t work very well.

Primary images

However, let’s take pictures from the basic Sony IMX 686 sensor. As you can see here, the photos are detailed. Compared to shoulder to shoulder with the RealMe X2, the Poco X2 has good detail, but seems to lack the punch. Color is a matter of personal choice, so I’m not going to go about it.

Other aspects such as dynamic range in POCO X2 are much better. Not ideal for HDR form, but works in most cases and most importantly, it is better than realme X2 images. So, yes, the IMX 686 sensor works better here than the RealX X2’s Samsung GW1 sensor.

64 vs 12MP!

Also, there is no difference in photos taken from 64MP and 12MP modes in POCO X2, so it is advisable that you go with 12MP ones to save storage.

Wideangle

In terms of wide-angle images, I have found that HDR capability is much higher than that of a basic lens. The colors are the same, which is a good thing. Compared to the wide-angle images of the Realm X2, the Poco X2 consistently produces better detail and dynamic range.

Low-light

However, night pictures are not uncommon from the phone. As you would expect from a phone in this price range. Generally, it does not have good exposure control. However, in Night Mode, it recovers by a good margin.

What I don’t like is the selfie from the Pokకో X2’s 20 MP sensor.

It suffers from the same problem as the Note 8 Pro, which has a weird red color to the selfie.

Portrait selfies

Never started telling me about portrait selfies. I emphasize how the depth sensor cannot prove to be of much importance, and its performance justifies it.

Although there is a dedicated depth sensor, it does not have proper edge-detection and subject focus and HDR does not work here.

The videos are impressive. They are detailed, they can also be fixed at 4K 30 fps, their colors are good, so I have no complaints. – POCO X2 Long Term Review

And for the ts guys out there, you can also shoot simple, ultra-wide-angle and macro images from Pro mode, allowing you to play with a lot of things to get a better picture.

Build Design

Therefore, aspect design is where Poco can do better. And by design, it’s not my intention to build quality, but see.

POCO X2 Design

While the phone looks good on the hands, it is not eye candy. The circular pattern around the cameras looks “ugly” in my opinion and is somewhat inspired by others. Therefore, it is better for the company to come up with its own design changes than identify with another brand.

Because, honestly, I don’t mind the design of the K20 because I thought it was different, so the company could go on like this. Also, all aspects of the design look good, especially when you look at the boring plastic design of the Poco F1.

Still 3.5mm Headphone Jack and IR Blaster!

Retaining the Poco IR blaster and headphone jack is impressive. Also, I don’t know how many of us are comfortable with the side-mounted fingerprint sensor, but I like it on the POCO X2. – POCO X2 Long Term Review

It is fast, reliable and does not take up space on the back of the phone. Considering the IPS screen on the phone that still can’t deliver the in-display fingerprint sensor, I think the next best implementation is on the one hand.

And looking at the budget, there is no IP rating. But the phone has a P2I coating to prevent it from splattering. In my one month with the phone, I had no scratches, thanks to the Gorilla Glass 5 protection on both the front and back. – POCO X2 Long Term Review

Overall, I think the design execution is going well because to me it just feels like a coincidence. I’m not particularly a fan of this as it is very common.

Performance and Gaming

Okay, just a minute crying about the design, another important aspect, the performance going forward. I was also a little short on this, as the Poco F1 was a favorite of all of us because it offered flagship level performance at a mid-range price, but not the same as before.

With that said, the Snapdragon 730G chipset is still one of the best mid-range chipsets out there. And for the average user, the performance it does is sufficient. I have installed a lot of applications on this unit and so far it has carried out all of my usual tasks with air. I never lost a single thing in my daily work. In fact, 120 Hertz makes the screen more sensitive.

Gaming

When it comes to games, yes I could not play POCO X2 in most settings. It is even more painful to watch my friend Poco F1, who is now almost 18 months old, and still play all the games at the highest settings.

Here, playing PUBG in high frame rates and HD graphics causes some stuttering here and there but nothing too dangerous. COD also works well in high settings. But, with games that support higher frame rates, you will definitely have a better experience than POCO F1 or any other 60 / 90Hz refresh rate phone. – POCO X2 Long Term Review

One thing to note on the Poco X2 display is that the touch sampling rate is still 120 Hz, so the gaming experience is not as good as the Galaxy S20 +, especially when playing graphic-intensive games, including 120 Hz, and a refresh rate of 240 Hz. Evolve.

MIUI

Now speaking of MIUI, you know it’s not my favorite skins because it’s too heavy, but it’s better than most. However, I would like to see some visual changes, such as icons and a notification panel in the UI. But I like how the POCO Launcher sets up applications based on its type to simplify the experience.

However, what I don’t like is the bloatware that comes with it. If you don’t uninstall them, they’ll send you app notifications, which is pretty annoying. – POCO X2 Long Term Review

But this time, Shiomi has promised to keep POCO X2 free from the ads it has distributed so far, so I’m very happy. It is available in 3 variants and I introduced it in 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variants.

Battery & Connectivity

Now, the battery life on the POCO X2 on the 60Hz option is amazing. This usually gave me one and a half days of use on a regular day and a full day when I used it seriously.

However, when set to 120Hz, battery life is significantly reduced to just one day. I have noticed a rapid decrease in battery levels, especially when accomplished a lot with 120 Hz. But, the 27-watt fast charger you get inside the box fills the battery in as fast as 70 minutes. – POCO X2 Long Term Review

Audio

Speaking of audio coming from the POCO X2’s single firing bottom speaker, it changes very fast, but it has less musical depth than other midrange phones I would like to review. – POCO X2 Long Term Review

I have never had any problems with call quality, nor have the receivers complained about anything, so things are just as good on that part.

POCO X2 Review – Last Words

Well, from the point of view of a mid-range device, POCO X2 dash all the bases it displays. While not the best camera, it has become solid, receives a 120Hz refresh rate performance rating, and the performance is complete.

But, the POCO F1 should follow in the footsteps of the “POCO” brand K20. And since it’s not like that, I think the phone is boring. I think the company could have done better by rebranding the Redmi K30 as the Posco X2, especially since Poco is now a separate company. – POCO X2 Long Term Review
